Seasonal
Tire Changeover

$20 per tire for pre-mounted set swaps. Includes balance check, torque to spec, and TPMS reset. Spring and fall appointments booking now.

What is a Changeover?

Seasonal changeover is the service for drivers who have two sets of tires already mounted on their own rims — one winter set, one summer or all-season set.

Twice a year, we swap them. The current set comes off, the off-season set goes on. Each tire gets a balance check, torque to your vehicle's spec, TPMS sensor relearn, and pressure check. Usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.

It's faster and cheaper than fresh installation because the tires are already mounted — no breaking down beads, no remounting, no new valve stems needed.

When to Book

🍂
Fall — All-Season to Winter
Best window: mid to late October. Daily highs in Chatham-Kent typically drop below 7°C in early November. Beat the rush by booking in mid-October.
🌸
Spring — Winter to All-Season
Best window: mid to late April. Once daily highs consistently stay above 7°C, winter compound starts wearing prematurely. April is the sweet spot.
Pro tip: Book your spring swap when you book your fall swap. Most customers do the seasonal pair at once — gives you a confirmed date 6 months out and keeps you ahead of the rush both times.

Yearly math: A driver who runs two seasonal sets saves about $40 per year on installation costs vs running one set and replacing more often. The bigger savings: dedicated winter tires last 2× longer than running winters year-round, and your summer set lasts longer with winters off it 5 months of the year.

Don't Have a Second Set Yet?

First-time setup is straightforward:

  1. Choose your winter tires — browse our catalogue or use the Tire Decision Guide on the home page
  2. Add a wheel set — most customers buy a basic steel wheel set ($79–$120/wheel) so they can leave winter rubber on rims year-round
  3. First-time install: $25/tire (mount, balance, valve, TPMS sensor)
  4. Add TPMS sensors to the winter set if needed: $60/sensor
  5. Future swaps are $20/tire for life of the tires

Typical first-year cost (4 winter tires + 4 steel wheels + install + 4 TPMS sensors): roughly $1,200 to $1,800 depending on tire choice. Each subsequent winter swap: $80. After year 1, you've cut your seasonal hassle in half and improved winter safety substantially.

Off-Season Storage

No room in the garage? We'll keep them.

Particularly valuable for drivers in apartments, condos, or smaller homes — no lifting tires up and down stairs twice a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between changeover and installation?
Installation is for fresh tires — mount, balance, valve stems, install. Changeover is for pre-mounted sets being swapped — no mounting needed, just bolt off / bolt on / balance check / torque. Changeover is cheaper because less work.
When should I book my fall changeover?
Book in early October before the rush. Mid-November is peak demand and appointments fill up. Our online booking shows real-time availability.
Do I need TPMS service every changeover?
A TPMS relearn is included free — that registers the swapped sensors to your vehicle. Separate TPMS service (sensor replacement at $60/sensor) is only needed if a sensor has failed.
Can you store my tires when not in use?
Yes — $50/season. We tag them with your name and vehicle, store them in our climate-controlled warehouse, and have them ready when you book your next swap.
What if my tires aren't pre-mounted on their own rims?
First time, we mount them — $25/tire for fresh installation. After that, all future seasonal swaps are $20/tire. Many customers buy a second set of inexpensive steel rims to make annual changeovers cheaper and faster.
Is it cheaper to just leave winter tires on year-round?
No. Winter tires wear roughly twice as fast in warm temperatures and lose handling responsiveness. You'll spend more replacing them sooner than you'd save on installation costs. Plus summer braking and grip suffer noticeably.
How long does a changeover take?
Typically 30–45 minutes for most vehicles. Trucks with 20"+ wheels may take slightly longer. We block enough time in your appointment so it never feels rushed.
